2016 International Champions Cup
Winning the English Premier League saw Leicester City invited to take part in that years International Champions Cup. Although this was not without controversy when to start with the owner of this competition originally did not want to invite Leicester City to take part claiming they were not a big enough club, for this or even The Champions League.
'The clubs met with businessman Stephen Ross. The American created the International Champions Cup, a pre-season tournament with takes place involving Europe's best sides in America, Australia and China. Ross owns the company Relevant Sports, and it's chairman Charlie Stillitano has said that Leicester's entry into the Champions League will do no good for the tournament. He told the Press Association that the meeting involved "restructuring the Champions League", which may involve reserving guaranteed places for certain teams.' courtesy of Off the Ball
Finally after an alleged intervention from The Premier League Leicester were invited to take part and their involvement in the Cup started with a trip to Celtic Park on the 23rd July which will be a battle of Britain with the England vs Scotland rivalry reignited in a huge friendly.
Leicester would then move onto playing in the United States with a friendly against Paris Saint Germain in Los Angeles on the 30th of July. Leicesters final group game would see them play Barcelona in Stockholm , Sweden on the 3rd August.
All this travelling was blamed by some fans for Leicester's poor start to the defence of their title as this in essence replaced a big chunk of their normal pre season.
