Players that Left Leicester, but the Club Went on to Be Better Without Them

Leicester is one of the few teams in England and Europe that nobody hates.
Their rich history makes it one of the clubs with the best traditions and the most loyal fanbase. Throughout the years, many players came and went, but the club’s standards and consistency stayed the same. This is exactly what we aim to prove in this article. We wanted to list a few crucial players that were once part of Leicester and when they decided to leave, the club remained the same.

Some of them were part of the team’s historic 2015/16 season when they won the Premier League. The interesting thing that we like to point out is that online casinos like casimba.com and many other online bookies gave Leicester 5000/1 odds to win it. The aforementioned online casino stated that some lucky winners managed to cash in thousands of pounds in profits.

Leicester currently competes for a top 3 finish in the PL. Many people believed that once the below-mentioned key players left, the club would be left in shambles. Well, they were wrong. Let’s see which crucial players are not part of the family.

Riyad Mahrez
Riyad Mahrez was one of the best players on the pitch during his time in Leicester. Fans considered him to be the best winger in the league, but after a few seasons, he was open to the idea of leaving. Finally, he joined Manchester City in 2018 for a fee of £61 million.

Danny Drinkwater
This midfielder was also one of the players that were controlling the pace of the ball on every match. Danny is very skilled with the ball and has a talent of keeping things under control. He joined Leicester in 2012 but left for Chelsea in 2017 for a fee of £31 million. After leaving the Foxes, Drinkwater has been struggling with his consistency.

Islam Slimani
Slimani is set to join Monaco on a permanent transfer after he was loaned from Leicester in 2019. The 31-year-old Algerian is currently in great form, but judging from the success Leicester had this season, he can be replaced.

Harry Maguire
After joining Manchester United in the summer of 2019, Maguire became the most expensive defender of all time. Many people believed that his departure would be devastating, but all of them were wrong. Leicester found a perfect replacement with Caglar Soyuncu who turned out to be even better than Harry.

N'Golo Kanté
To be fair, we’ll never get over Kanté. To this day, he is one of the best midfielders in the world. His ball control is perfect, he can control the pace, plus – Kanté is one of the nicest and kindest people in the world of sports. But, even though he decided to join Chelsea, Leicester City is doing a fantastic job without him in the midfield line.
